This work on paper is self-portraiture of the artist. He is further exploring the expressionist ideology he embarked in this series of artworks. The colours are subdued and controlled in a small space but still open and expressive.
That larger-than-life feel is evident in all of Federico’s works, be it a 150cm x 200cm canvas or 90cm x 64cm paperwork like this one. He is a very emotional painter. He tries to capture that in every piece of art he creates. If you have been following his artistic development over the years, it is very evident and intuitive for the artist to bring that forward to the viewer.
